Introduction
Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by increasing blood glucose levels that remain in the bloodstream for a prolonged time in your body. Over time this results in serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Basically, there are 3 types of Diabetes- Type 1, Type 2 & Gestational Diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common diabetes that usually occurs in adults which results from the body’s ineffective use of insulin. Type 2 diabetes has risen suddenly in countries of all income levels. Type 1 diabetes, (previously known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes), is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin by itself.
